We got up early, did morning stuff then headed up the road to Herriman. We picked up Matt's Uncle Jed on the way--another Clawson Cowboy!
There's no denying--we were anxious. Everytime we have a pregnant mare and wonder aloud what it will be like, I always say, "It it will be a bay mare with a roman nose." So I was wondering if this is what Matt's horse would be. Well he's a bay alright! We both think he's good looking too. He isn't afraid of us. Which is good because we aren't afraid of him. He was captured in 2007 so we are thinking he's been hanging around the wild horse facility for a couple of years. Bays aren't the most popular horses. Most folks want "color." I think he's just fine!
Now about the name...just as in naming a baby, it's important to come up with the right name. Matt initially called him Steve and I wanted Menassah. (I want to name every new horse Menassah.) Then I mixed up a drink in the cooler as we were contemplating...It was a Mojito. (Virgin, of course) We kind of liked it. We kind of liked the name too. Although I kind of liked Jose Cuervo and Matt kind of liked Tequila. WHATEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!The horse is named MOJITO. I found meanings from "broth" to "little soul". None of the meanings were offensive so there we have it. It seems to suit him too.
I am anxious for Matt to start training him. Matt is an amazing trainer and Mojito is lucky to have him. However, Mojito will have to chill for the rest of the afternoon and tomorrow morning because Matt is yonder in Payson Canyon taking the young women and leaders in our ward horse back riding. They will be camping out....enjoying nature...yada...yada...yada.
